Thorough, accurate testing every time
(Cyfieithiad i ddod yn fuan)
Egni Energy Solutions offers dependable and professional Air Tightness Testing, also known as Air Permeability or Air Leakage Testing, designed to ensure compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations.
We provide both:
- Blower Door Testing – the recognised compliance method for new dwellings and commercial buildings
- Pulse Air Tightness Testing – a rapid, low-disruption testing method ideal for existing homes and EPC improvement work
Our commitment is to provide you with a transparent and accurate assessment of your building's air leakage, ensuring it meets the required standards — whether for Building Control sign-off, SAP/iSBEM calculations, or improving an existing EPC rating
How Air Tightness Testing Works
Blower Door Testing (Compliance Method)
Blower Door Testing entails the placement of a calibrated fan within an external doorway. The fan temporarily pressurises and depressurises the building, allowing our engineers to measure the air leakage rate at 50 Pascals.
This is the standard method required for:
- New dwellings under Part L1A
- Commercial buildings under Part L2A
- Extensions where testing is specified
- Achieving air permeability targets below 10 m³/hr/m²
During the test we also identify areas of leakage, helping you understand where improvements can be made if required.
Pulse Air Tightness Testing (Modern Rapid Method)
Pulse testing uses a rapid air pulse to measure the building’s air permeability in seconds, without the need to fully depressurise the property.
It is particularly suitable for:
- Occupied properties
- Existing dwellings seeking EPC improvements
- Landlords aiming to improve ratings
- Early-stage diagnostic checks before final completion
- Situations where minimal disruption is preferred
Pulse testing provides reliable air permeability measurements and can be used to support SAP or EPC calculations where appropriate.
At Egni Energy Solutions, we help you strike the correct balance between building air tightness and proper ventilation — ensuring compliance without compromising indoor air quality.
